BIG LIVE THING VIENNA
1988, December 05th, Kurhalle Oberlaa, Wien, Austria

1.I Don't want Your Love - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.Save A Prayer - 4.The Reflex - 5.Rio - 6.Do You Believe In Shame? - 7.Too Late Marlene - 8.Girls On Film - 9.Notorious - 10.The Wild Boys - 11.Drug

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This is an excellent radio broadcast. The tracklist is not complete, and the songs are in a different order than the original; this is the reason why there are small gaps, but the songs fades in and out, so this is not very annoying. "Save A Prayer" is great; "Do You Believe In Shame?" has a different intro and is very well performed, and I really like "Too Late Marlene" and "The Reflex". This is one of the most interesting "Big Live Thing" bootlegs.

MILANO 88 first night
1988, December 10th, Palatrussardi, Milano, Italy

CD1:
1.God - 2.Big Thing - 3. I Don't Want Your Love - 4.Hungry Like The Wolf - 5.Do You Believe In Shame? - 6.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 7.This Is How A Road Gets Made/Winter Marches On - 8.Palomino - 9.Too Late Marlene - 10.Girls On Film - 11.Notorious . 12.Skin Trade
CD2: 1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.The Wild Boys - 3.Drug - 4.Band Intro - 5.Save A Prayer - 6.The Reflex/Rio - 7.The Edge Of America - 8.Final Show

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au9)
Notes: I have something important to tell about this concert: two days later Simon said that this concert was the best on his career! The show is very well performed, and you can hear Italian fans screaming and singing "Big Thing", "All She Wants Is", "The Wild Boys" and "Drug" along with Simon . The audience was very excited, and introducing "Save A Prayer" Simon said "Calma, calma" ("Calm down, calm down"). "Winter Marches On" and "Palomino" are very sweet. This is NOT the TV broadcast, but a previous show.

MILANO 88 third night (TV Broadcast)
1988, December 12th, Palatrussardi, Milano, Italy

CD1:
1.God - 2.Big Thing - 3. I Don't Want Your Love - 4.Hungry Like The Wolf - 5.Do You Believe In Shame? - 6.All She Wants Is - 7.Planet Earth - 8.This Is How A Road Gets Made/Winter Marches On - 9.Palomino - 10.Too Late Marlene - 11.Girls On Film - 12.Notorious . 13.Skin Trade - 14.Is There Something I Should Know? - 15.The Wild Boys - 16.Drug - 17.Band Intro + Save A Prayer (cuts off)
CD2: 1.Save A Prayer - 2.The Reflex - 3.Rio - 4.The Edge Of America - 5.Final Show
BONUS TRACKS: 6.I Don't Want Your Love (remix) - 7.All She Wants Is (remix)

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10) no cuts!
Notes: This is the show that was broadcasted on the italian TV (also available on VHS); at the end of the eighties, this show was released in a vinyl bootleg called "Lost Prophets", directely taken off the video broadcast recording. That version had some cuts here and there, because of the TV spots and the VJ's spoken parts at the beginning of "Do You Believe In Shame?" and "Palomino". My version is taken off a copy of the original master, without cuts and VJ's spoken parts, so all the show is represented here, in excellent soundboard quality. You can hear all the dialogues, and there are no traslations over "God" and "This Is How A Road Gets Made". The only missing part in this bootleg is the first take of "The Edge Of America"; if you watch the video version, you can see that they started this song two times; just the second take (the full and right version) is here. I don't know why, maybe the bootlegger tried to help the guys, leaving an error out of the cd :-)

ROME 88 second show
1988, December 15th, Palaeur, Rome, Italy

CD1: 1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.The Wild Boys/Drug - 3.Band Intro - 4.Save A Prayer - 5.The Reflex/Rio - 6.Audience - 7.The Edge Of America - 8.Final Show

Audio Quality: AVERAGE AUDIENCE (au6)
Notes: I was there and I can say the audience was very excited. Italian fans always loved Duran Duran. The show was great, from the beginning to the end. In this CD you can hear a great deal of energy. A girl who was near to the microphone would scream a lot calling "John, John!!", and sometime this is a problem for the audio quality. Anyway, the quality is not terrible, I think. If you are a completist, this cd should be good for you, but if you are looking for a "Big Live Thing" show with a great audio quality, then you need "Milano 88 TV Broadcast".

WEMBLEY 88
1988, December 23rd, Wembley Arena, London, UK

1.Big Thing - 2. I Don't Want Your Love - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 5.Girls On Film - 6. Notorious - 7.Save A Prayer - 8.Is There Something I Should Know? - 9.The Reflex/Rio
from VIENNA 88: 10.Do You Believe In Shame? - 11.Too Late Marlene - 12.The Wild Boys/Drug
BONUS TRACKS: 13.God (uncensored) - 14.All She Wants Is (US master dub)

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This is an edited version of the complete radio broadcast. There are gaps in between tracks and some songs fade in when still in progress. Some great bonus tracks are here: "Do You Believe In Shame?", "Too Late Marlene" and "The Wild Boys / Drug" are from the Vienna 88 bootleg. The "God" version featured on this bootleg is the uncensored one, so you can hear the line "Fuck the Queen!" :-) If you still don't have the full show, this is really an interesting bootleg for your collection.

ELECTRIC THEATRE KOBE 89
1989, February 15th, Kinen World Hall, Kobe, Japan

CD1: 1.God - 2.Big Thing - 3.I Don't Want Your Love - 4.Hungry Like The Wolf - 5.Do You Believe In Shame? - 6.Maximum Big Surprise - 7.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 8.This Is How A Road Gets Made/Winter Marches On - 9.Palomino - 10.A View To A Kill - 11.The Edge Of America/Lake Shore Driving - 12.Girls On Film - 13.Notorious - 14.Skin Trade
CD2: 1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.Drug - 3.The Wild Boys - 4.Save A Prayer - 5.Get It On - 6.The Reflex - 7.Rio

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT AUDIENCE (au9/10)
Notes: Kobe was the first japanese town reached by the Electric Theatre tour; the guys played three shows in Kobe, and this is the full recording of the first one. Even if the Tokyo bootleg is the best recording of that japanese tour, you have some good reason to add the Kobe cd to your collection: the audio quality is very very good; "Winter Marches On" was in the setlist that night, and wasn't in the Tokyo show; last, the "Drug" performance was really powerfull.

ELECTRIC THEATRE TOKYO 89
1989, February 22nd, The Big Egg Dome, Tokyo, Japan

CD1:
1.God - 2.Big Thing - 3.I Don't Want Your Love - 4.Hungry Like The Wolf - 5.Do You Believe In Shame? - 6.Maximum Big Surprise - 7.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 8.Palomino - 9.A View To A Kill - 10.The Edge Of America/Lake Shore Driving
CD2: 1.Skin Trade - 2.Girls On Film - 3.Notorious - 4.Is There Something I Should Know? - 5.Drug - 6.The Wild Boys - 7.Save A Prayer - 8.Get It On - 9.The Reflex - 10.Rio

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This is a Big Beat Records bootleg, released in CD back in 1997 It contains the whole Tokyo 89 show, in a superb audio quality, also partially available on video. This is your definitive "Electric Theatre" bootleg, I think. "All She Wants Is", the current single at that time, was performed in a longer and longer "remixed" version, lasting 9 minutes. "Maximum Big Surprise" was a medley of "Election Day" and "Some Like It Hot"; "A View To A Kill" was added to the setlist, and had a great 007 sax intro, and "Get It On" was also added to the setlist as an encore. "Is There Something I Should Know?" had a new intro. The rest of the show was the same of the "Big Live Thing" shows.

ELECTRIC THEATRE HONG KONG 89
1989, February 24th/25th, Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Hong Kong

CD1:
1.Big Thing - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.Do You Believe In Shame? -4.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 5.A View To A Kill - 6.Skin Trade - 7.Girls On Film - 8.Notorious
CD2: 1.Is There Something I Should Know? - 2.The Wild Boys - 3.Save A Prayer (fades soon) - 4.The Reflex - 5.Rio - 6.Final Show
BONUS TRACK: 7.NICK RHODES interview at ROCK CAFE' (italian radio)

Audio Quality: GOOD SOUNDBOARD (read notes) (sb8)
Notes: This bootleg is different from the Hong Kong 89 bootlegs I've always seen in other collectors' lists. The most famous version is a 12 tracks CD, recorded from a TV broadcast on February 24 (that's why the show is partially available on VIDEO). My copy is longer and includes two more songs ("A View To A Kill" and "Skin Trade") taken from the February 25 show radio broadcast. The audio quality is better in the February 24 songs, though (very good soundboard). Instead the February 25 tracks are in good / very good soundboard, but a local DJ speaks over the beginning of the songs. A special BONUS track is a long interview with Nick Rhodes at Rock Café (Italian Radio); the DJ still speaks over Nick's voice translating in Italian for the listeners, but you can also hear Nick talking.

LONDON ARENA 89
1989, April 22nd, London Arena, London, UK

CD1:
1.God - 2.Big Thing - 3.I Don't Want Your Love - 4.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 5.This Is How A Road Gets Made - 6.Winter Marches On - 7.Palomino - 8.A View To A Kill - 9.The Edge Of America/Lake Shore Driving - 10.Skin Trade
CD2: 1.Girls On Film - 2.Notorious - 3.Is There Something I Should Know? - 4.Drug - 5.Drug (reprise).- 6.The Wild Boys - 7.Save A Prayer - 8.Get It On - 9.The Reflex - 10.Rio

Audio Quality: AVERAGE AUDIENCE (au6/7)
Notes: The audio quality is decent, while the performance is excellent. Unfortunately, "Hungry Like The Wolf" and "Do You Believe In Shame" are missing from the tracklist, and "All She Wants Is" is not complete, starting from the middle of the long "remixed" version they performed during the "Electric Theatre Tour". If you are a completist, this is a nice CD for you. If you are looking for a perfect CD, then "Electric Theatre Tokyo 89" is your best choice. This show is also available in VIDEO (private recording).

ELECTRIC THEATRE MANCHESTER 89
1989, April 25th, Manchester Apollo, Manchester, UK

1.Big Thing - 2.I Don't Want Your Love - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.Palomino - 5.A View To A Kill - 6.Skin Trade - 7.John Gets Nostalgic - 8.Girls On Film - 9.Notorious - 10.Save A Prayer - 11.Get It On - 12.The Reflex - 13.Rio

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This is an excellent BBC radio broadcast, survived on a tape for ten years and then (very well) remastered in CD. The show is not complete, but I'm sure this is, along with the Tokyo CD the most interesting bootleg of the "Electric Theatre" era. I believe that the performance of "Palomino" here featured is the best I've ever heard. The breaking chorus at the end of "I Don't Want Your Love" is superb; "A View To A Kill" has the 007 sax intro, and is powerful. I think every Duran Duran fan need to get this CD! The video version is also available.

LEYSIN 89
1989, June 30th, Leysin Festival, Leysin, Switzerland

1.I Don't Want Your Love - 2.Hungry Like The Wolf - 3.Do You Believe In Shame? - 4.Maximum Big Surprise - 5.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 6.A View To A Kill - 7.The Chauffeur - 8.Palomino - 9.Girls On Film/Notorious - 10.Is There Something I Should Know ? - 11.The Wild Boys - 12.Save A Prayer - 13.Get It On

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This is an excellent radio broadcast of the first of four "Summer Festival" shows that the guys played on 1989. The broadcast was not complete, missing the final part of the show ("The Reflex" and "Rio", that are on the audience recoring of the concert); two female radio speakers talks in beetween songs, but just a little bit over the music, so this is not a great problem.
This cd includes a very interesting track: the only soundboard recording of a performance of "The Chauffeur" played during the Big Thing Days! Actually, this song weren't in the "Big Live Thing" or the "Electric Theatre" shows, and the guys only played this song during the summer concerts; Leysin was the only one broadcasted on radio, and today available in soundboard quality. Another very interesting track is "Do You Believe In Shame?", with a beautiful intro.

BEACH FESTIVAL 89
1989, August 06th, Beach Festival, De Panne, Belgium

CD1:
1.Intro - 2.I Don't Want Your Love - 3.Hungry Like The Wolf - 4.Do You Believe In Shame? - 5.Maximum Big Surprise - 6.All She Wants Is/Planet Earth - 7.THE CHAUFFEUR - 8.A View To A Kill - 9.Palomino -
CD2: 1.John Talks - 2.Girls On Film - 3.Notorious - 4.Is There Something I Should Know? - 5.YO BAD AZIZI - 6.MY FAMILY - 7.The Wild Boys - 8.Save A Prayer - 9.Audience - 10.Get It On - 11.The Reflex - 12.Rio

Audio Quality: VERY GOOD AUDIENCE (au9)
Notes: This is the third of four "Summer Festival" shows the guys played in 1989. These shows are very interesting for every Duran Duran fan or collector, because the band played something special on any of them. That night, they played "The Chauffeur", and for the first time, two (at the time) unreleased tracks: "My Family" and "Yo Bad Azizi". During an interview with the Italian radio, a fan asked Simon about these two songs and Simon said that "Yo Bad Azizi will be of course on our new album; we don't know what to do with My Family". Actually, "Yo Bad Azizi" was released as the "Serious" b-side, while "My Family" remained unreleased. You can just find that song in the "Didn't Anybody Tell You?" CD... and here, of course! If you are a collector, or just a big fan, I believe you will love this CD. It is also available on VIDEO.
